While You Are Out

Do you ever wonder what they do...
or where they like to wait,
while you are out?
I wonder if they get anxious,
or if they simply sleep all day.
Maybe they settle down right where you said
 good-bye,
so as to be ready and waiting when you return.

It's probably most comforting to know,
that even though they have a bed, your pillow is their favorite.
If they're lucky,
they might have a sunny terrace or patio.

but for some, a window for two will do.
Funny how they always know...
when the time is near.
They know to be quiet and listen,

and to keep a watchful eye.
Because they know the familiar sounds of your arrival, they know you're home & they want to know all about your day!

  2. So cute! Our husky alternates between the sunny and shady spots in our yard. When I come home from work she is usually laying in the shady spot against the gate from the yard to the driveway. She's 9 this year, so I don't even get a lift of the head now, but she knows I'm home.

  3. Awe! I love it! My dogs have taken to switching beds when we're not home. Can you believe that? My 65 pound lab curls him self up in the bed of our 9 pound poodle mix and our poodle mix gets in the lab's bed feeling like he's king of the world.

  4. Lisa! Where did you get all of those great pictures of dogs? Mine are in the bed with me while I avoid getting up! Thank you too for putting my painting up! I really appreciate it. I hope you are having a Fabulous Friday morning!

  5. Now that is my kind of post! I always feel horrible when we leave the pups, however they are doing what some of those dogs in the pictures are doing...sleeping on the couch, with their heads on the pillow or curled up in our bed. Then when we get home, we always take them for a walk! Thanks for the post on these pooches!

Also, we wanted to say thank you so much for the thoughtful and kind comments you left us the other day! You are just the nicest woman we know and everything you say just brightens our day! Thank you!

Ps. Please say hi to Gracie!

  6. What a heart warming post. I often wonder about my two, Maybelle and Pepper. I would love to be a fly on the wall though my hunch is that they sleep all day and save the craziness for when I am home. Wishing you a delightful weekend!

  7. Mr. Bozley is rather fond of the leather couch in the formal livingroom and my son's bed. The best part is when he tries to *blend in* and act as though no one can see him ~ clever!

  12. Love the Dogs!
My brother has two Weimaraner's that would get so excited when he would come home from the art gallery....that they would romp and run throughout the house...and then when he would get into the shower they would steal his bathmat.....take it down the stairs and into the back yard and have a tug of war with it

They knew how upset he would get when they did this.....which gave them even more attention when he got home.
He finally started closing the bathroom door when he showered.
