Camping & Comfort

 There’s been some discussion around here lately regarding the subject of camping & comfort. In my opinion, these two do not go hand in hand.

That’s why God created Boy Scouts.

MR. Eagle Scout suggested it would be great fun and that maybe I would be more in the mood {what kind of mood might that be honey?} if I had my own uniform!

He said I could sew on as many badges as I wanted!

Sure thing. Right after I sew on a discrete flat pocket to hold my slim straight shooter ~

Oh, calm down. I’m talking about a slim straight shooter from Stanley. “For those occasions that require more than a toast.”

Then there’s the question of accommodations.

 Yes?

Remember it goes everywhere I go?

               

Didn’t think so.

Fourth Of July

I Love America.

 We light fireworks, revel in red, white & blue.

Picnics & people come together to celebrate our nation's & our family's independence.

We drag tables & chairs out to the lawn, platters of food, baskets of bread, cookies & cupcakes, pitchers of lemonade & lots of ice.

We join in patriotic song, march in parades and after sunset we watch America's birthday candles light up the sky.

Marshmallows for roasting, lanterns for hunting bugs & lost shoes.

Soon there will be journeys back & forth to the house or the car with arms full of left-over's & sleeping children.

Like I said, I love America.

Holding On To History

My Uncle, Charles Adams has always been the "keeper" in our family. He kept my grandparent's wonderful home for years after they passed. He kept many of their things, all for his family. Mainly he kept the memories of wonderful times alive for the generations to come. Every once in awhile, we get a box. This one was addressed to my son, Collier, for his 15th birthday. This is what was inside the box!

A cannonball from the Civil War. In the 1920s my grandfather was touring one of the many battlegrounds of the Civil War with his Boy scout troop. He simply picked it up & carried it back home with him. He was also a "keeper".

Collier is a "keeper" and thinks that this is quite possibly the coolest birthday gift he has ever received.

Thank you, Uncle Charles, it will be in good hands.
