Grace

When I talk about her life ~ I'm really talking about our life.

She was everywhere ~ Still is.

Her favorite place ~ The cool grass at the top of Spring.

The unfathomable knowledge behind her silver face.

She grew into her name ~

Our gentle girl named Grace.

It's Spring again Gracie.

We sure do miss you. xo

The Last Wag

Here is a place between the river and the woods that peace calls home.

Dear friends,

Quietly on a Sunday morning in May, we had to say good-bye to our beloved Lab, Gracie. Within the arms of her family, she peacefully passed away with her dignity and grace.

She will always be remembered & forever missed.

Gracie became a member of our family ten years ago when we moved to Kentucky. She brought great joy and a wag of her tail to everyone she met. She also became the subject of quite a few blog posts here at TLPC. Before I knew it, she became a socially connected blog dog, started her very own Facebook page and named it The Gracie Porter Collection.

Her bio begins with ~ “Come, sit, and speak. I want to know what makes you wag your tail!”

Well, they came and brought their smart & stylish owners too! It’s been so much fun dear friends but I must tell you that this blogger has about lost her “bark.”

So before I say “The End” over at The Gracie Porter Collection, I want to thank you for joining us and allowing me the privilege of introducing my best friend to your best friend. You are all just wonderful and your dogs are the luckiest in the whole wide world!

Lunch in the garden.

Today a cool crisp breeze fills the air & the house with the smell of sweet Clematis!

The rain has renewed our landscape & the arbor – she’s being a bit of a show-off!

This year Miss Clematis put her best dress on. The roses are envious & climbing higher than usual!

Peeking over the fence and feeling grateful for the new stone path & Bluegrass that my son helped lay.

Miss Clematis is lazy & full & with arms opened wide she welcomes guests at the back gate.

This old bronze bell has been at the entrance to all of our patios, courtyards, porches since I was a child. My mother sent it with us when we moved to Kentucky. Thanks, Mom.

Today I’m preparing lunch alfresco for friends.

Life seems so much easier & relaxed when we eat outside.

Meanwhile, my helper is still guarding last Sunday’s paper!

On the menu, Warm Beet Salad with Wilted Greens from a favorite cookbook, Fresh & Fast by Marie Simmons.

Baskets are handy for bringing everything outdoors.

I’m using some beautiful china that I recently purchased from Decoratifs’. If you’ve been here from the start, you might recall that the Lexington landmark was the subject of my very first post!
