Thank You Williams-Sonoma

I have been preparing Thanksgiving dinner for my family for the last 15 years. You know who taught me, this gentleman.

Chuck Williams

I was with Williams-Sonoma for many wonderful years, the last few as a special events coordinator in Southern California at South Coast Plaza. During that time, I had the privilege of getting to know Chuck Williams.

Sitting with him in the stock room prior to a book signing event for his Complete Entertaining Cookbook, we discussed family, cooking & traditions.  We agreed that Thanksgiving has always been most memorable with good friends & good food lovingly prepared and served in classic Williams-Sonoma style!

This year, Mr. Williams and his wonderful "foodies" at Williams-Sonoma have provided you with a Thanksgiving Menu Booklet!  Download this step by step brochure full of recipes and a timeline for planning ahead!

The prospect of hosting a Thanksgiving celebration can be daunting! It is, after all, traditionally a big meal with many elements to manage, including shopping.

They have even gone ahead & made your grocery list!  I wonder if they deliver?

A well-stocked pantry is a must to preparing a wonderful feast with ease. Many of these items are year-round staples in my pantry.  Preparing any meal with Williams-Sonoma specialty foods saves time in the kitchen and preserves the authentic homemade flavors we love.

It also helps to have the right tools! My son will tell you that I do have a pretty nifty kitchen drawer filled with fantabulous tools & gadgets!   His favorite is my kitchen torch!  The brochure provides tips & a tool list too!

Whether preparing handed-down favorites or creating a new tradition of your own, Williams-Sonoma can help. If your meal is genuine and satisfying, you and your family and guests will have a memorable occasion.

In our home, when we come together with family and friends to express, through words, laughter and the pleasures of the table, how grateful we are to have one another, that is our perfect Thanksgiving.

  2. Lisa,

This is the first Thanksgiving we are hosting our entire family at our home in North Carolina. Thank you so much for the advise and guidance from William Sonoma and Mr. Williams. The excitement of all being in one place celebrating together will be great confusion and fun, so the list, recipes, and guide will be a welcome way to keep our celebration on track. Happy fall and holiday to you and yours!! Thanks as always, friend!

  3. Such a fun post! You've reminded me that I need to pick up a few things before Thanksgiving-namely a new veggie peeler. Love that shopping bag too!

  4. I have been doing a small Thanksgiving for 5 years now and each year I get better at it. Since I don't care for gravy and especially the "last minute" of it, I picked up some WS gravy and it was pretty darn good! Just walking into there store makes me feel good. You have such a beautiful blog!

  9. That's so cool that you worked at WS! Great pics...we just had our Thanksgiving a few weeks ago, but I get to cross the border to my husbands family's in Bellingham for another one...life is good!

Love all the trinkets at Williams Sonoma...just a walk through the store, and I want to cook.

    Best,

  10. I love it Lisa! I am going to download that little gem and make a trip to WS! I have a sweet young friend who just graduated college and has worked for WS for many years in Sarasota, FL. She is a foodie and has a sweet little blog and makes items for WS demo's!

    Have fun with your friend.

  12. Hi Dear Lisa,

Here I am! You are so lovely with your beautiful hat on this picture! Wonderful!
Your blog seems so stylish and cosy! I really loved your post of today!
Here in Belgium we do not know Thanksgiving day! I read about it on so many blogs and I am invited for the Thanksgiving table of one of my blogger friends in California! It is such a pity that it is so far from Belgium!

  15. What a wonderful post, Lisa. Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday. We always do dinner at my house, but now that I have grandchildren, I have two little helpers. Emma [age 11] has always helped set the table and has VERY strong opinions on it. She helps decorate some of the food [her idea!] and helps make a few things. Hyatt [age 7] and I make the cranberries. His interest lags after that. It is such a joy!

  16. What a lovely post.
When I was trying to decide what counter material to buy for a renovation job -- for my own 19th century house in Galveston -- I went with this gentleman's favorite. Butcher block. He was being interviewed in a magazine, talking about his favorite kitchens, I think.
I paired the butcher block with a green granite. It totally fit the personality of the house! Happy turkey, -susan
p.s. what a great job you must have had/enjoyed.

  17. I love this post Lisa! William-Sonoma has been a part of our Thanksgivings for years. In 1994, we followed "A Chuck Williams Thanksgiving"... a little booklet. The entire menu... simple, straight-forward and divine!!
