Summer afternoon,

It's time to shed ambition and expectation, along with commutes, clothing, calendars & cell phones.
Slow down or stop.
Because even though the pursuit of happiness becomes a priority...
Deep in the heart of summer,
laziness finds respectability.
They say that in every girl's life;
there's a boy she'll never forget
and a summer where it all began.
So true.
I think summer is not so much a season.
It's more like a melody of contentment
that I often find myself humming,
as the day begins to blur and comes to a beautiful end.

Hope you're enjoying plenty of beautiful summer afternoons.
grabbing my novel and heading out to the hammock after reading this beautiful post -- thanks Lisa. I met Sarabeth of Sarabeth's Kitchen at a foodie event and made me think of your beautiful post awhile back. Happy Summer and napping! xo tamara
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, so dreamy, like a poem. Thank you for sharing, Isabelle
ReplyDeleteGorgeous poem, I feel like I just stepped into a perfect summery dream! I loved your prose and the pictures went beautifully along with it. So true about those summers where a first love began, I sure remember being 16 and falling in love (or so I thought, it was puppy love which is so sweet) Summer is more than a season, its a state of mind....a feeling that I wouldn't mind having for all four seasons! Beautiful Lisa!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful post, Lisa. There are so many special times that take place during the summer. This brought back lovely memories.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.

So lovely!! I'm afraid I took on too much this summer and so wish I could be in this state of mind. I have only myself to blame - oh well. I love your phrase "laziness finds respectability"!!
ReplyDeleteLisa that was beautiful, in every sense of the meaning.
ReplyDelete"They say that in every girl's life;

Much love,
Deb
